Again and again I’ve been told by doctors I’ll be fighting an “uphill battle.” What I’ve come to know is regardless of outcome, what I choose to do with that information is up to me. I could see it as a challenge or become distraught with how the medical narrative views my situation.
In 2003 when I returned to cycling after a 12 yr hiatus I learned there was a State Championship Hill Climb time trial. I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that doing that race fit into the narrative of my choosing.
If you aren’t mindful of the cultural, medical, family, business, or political (to name just a few) narratives they can become you own. By remaining true to yourself
and your desires, you CAN take your experiences and create our own story narrative with them. This is your way to remain a champion with your experiences instead of a victim to them!
